Composing the Unnoticed
A Live Masterclass with Ishai Adar | Film composer and producer
In the workshop, Ishai Adar, musician, composer and multidisciplinary artist – will present his unconventional compositional approach to film and television music. Adar, a veteran composer and head of the film scoring & sound design program at Sapir College, began his musical career in underground band Nosey HaMigbaat in the late 1980s. Even then, he dreamed of a different sound – electronic, abstract and resonant. He realized this dream when he found himself composing music for film and video art. In the soundtracks of films such as “Beaufort”, “A Film Unfinished” and TV series “Our Boys” (HBO), Adar incorporated experimental and abstract music that gives a new interpretation to the familiar conventions of film music and reflects his rich background in electronic and experimental sound.
In the workshop, Adar will present his compositional method, which he says is more similar to environmental sculpture. Adar claims that “Music is another layer in the sound of the reality we know – a claim that will become unraveled throughout the workshop.
