The golden age of “Zehu Ze!” in the 1980s and early 1990s produced countless original, funny and bizarre Israeli music videos, on a non-Hollywood budget but bursting with creativity. Most of the videos were shot in the studio, with the episode’s props as a backdrop and the show’s actors as extras. All the biggest names in Israeli pop of the time received the “Zehu Ze!” treatment – a program that created a new visual language for local pop.
In an exciting and one-off tribute event, Soundtrack Tel Aviv hosts Donkey, for a contemporary angle on those music videos. Or Butbul and Omri Hacohen are going to dive into the archives, fish out the best “Zehu Ze!” music videos, and critique them with a sharp, loving, and above all, funny perspective..
