For obvious and well-known reasons, we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip hop a little late, but with a new and exciting project. In order to connect hip hop to cinema (and more specifically, to the history of Israeli cinema), the Tel Aviv Soundtrack Festival initiated and produced "Schlagers": a four-track EP by some of Israel’s top hip hop creators, using samples from Israeli films. This unique project, which is released on all digital platforms, was produced courtesy of NMC United, Transfax Film Productions and the Heffner family.
Participants: Heffner, Cohen, Argov, Oshik Mafia, Jenny Penkin
Samples taken from the films: But Where Is Daniel Wax? (Avraham Heffner, 1972), Aunt Clara (Avraham Heffner, 1977), Kuni Leml in Tel Aviv (Joel Silberg, 1976), Love Birds (Dover Koshashvili, 2017)
Artistic direction: Heffner
Special EP launch show: Thursday 19.9, 23:00, Hall 6
