The Soundtrack Tel Aviv Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony & Jubilee of Murder C.O.D. Murder C.O.D.
Writer: Assi Dayan and Naftali Alter
Music: Naftali Alter
One of Naftali Alter's greatest cinematic moments is " Murder C.O.D" – Assi Dayan's first film as a director. Alter produced, co-wrote the screenplay with Dayan, and composed the film's soundtrack.
Since it was first released, 51 years ago, the film has hardly been screened, and no one has watched it for years, for the simple reason that it can only be seen on film, and only one copy of it exists in the world. In honor of the 2024 Soundtrack Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, which is granted to Naftali Alter, we removed the mothballs with trembling hands from the one and only 35mm copy of the film.
This is a (very) Israeli version of a classic American 70s police thriller, with Oded Kotler as Dirty Harry in flip-flops. A police inspector using unorthodox investigative methods is suspended from investigating a serial killer. As he figures out how the killer works, he uses himself as bait, but his plan goes terribly wrong.
The screening is courtesy of Jay Koller, Marathon Pictures
The event will open with the Soundtrack Tel Aviv Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony, including a live performance of songs from Alter's extensive film career with the participation of Hanan Yovel, Aya Zahavi Feiglin and Alon Lotringer, as well as Alter's daughter, Roni Alter.
Nimrod Glodfarb (bass and artistic direction), Gilad Levin (guitar), Lyri Achai (keyboards), Guy Benami (drums).
Total duration of the event approx. 120 minutes
