Purple Rain
A young musician (Prince), tormented by an abusive situation at home, must contend with a rival singer, a burgeoning romance, and his own dissatisfied band, as his star begins to rise.
Purple Rain, widely regarded as one of the greatest musical films ever made, won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The film was supported by a soundtrack album of the same name, which featured two US chart-topping singles, "When Doves Cry" and "Let's Go Crazy", as well as the number-two hit "Purple Rain".
