Indie City - Gaza Envelope

Indie City is a concept project combining the vibrant Israeli indie music scene and documentary situations in different Israeli locations. The series provides a platform for new and unknown bands alongside veteran artists and has been promoting Israeli indie music for over a decade. Over the course of 12 seasons, over 180 music videos were filmed and broadcast as part of a special slot on HOT’s Channel 8. Indie City's YouTube channel has received millions of views and thousands comments from all over the world, and serves as an archive of independent Israeli music.
The current season of Indie City is dedicated to the places and faces of the massacre of October 7, and it includes eight music videos. The participants of this season are Chava Alberstein, Lola Marsh, The Backyard (Hachatzer Ha'achorit), Teapacks, Jimbo J, Daniel Weiss, Saar Liven, and Amanei Ha’Otef (a group comprised of musicians from the Gaza envelope) in collaboration with the families of the hostages. Seven of the videos were filmed in Gaza Envelope and one in the Hostages Square in Tel Aviv. The videos combine interviews in which the artists talk about their personal experiences from October 7.
This season of Indie City touches on the collective trauma, and the sadness that each story brings with it, and it was important for us to bring it to the big screen as part of the Soundtrack Tel Aviv Film Festival.
The event will include an introduction by Bettina Feinstein, creator and director of Indie City, after which all eight videos will be premiered, followed by a panel discussion with Feinstein and several participants of this season, moderated by radio personality Maya Alkulumbre.
