Three Days and a Child
Music: Dov Seltzer
A modernist adaptation of a short story by A. B. Yehoshua that draws heavily on the techniques of French New Wave cinema. Eli (Oded Kotler) is a young student who lives with his girlfriend in Jerusalem. He agrees to babysit the young son of his beloved former girlfriend, and her husband. Eli and the kid spend three days touring Jerusalem, as Eli relives painful memories of his life with Noa on the kibbutz and her subsequent rejection of him. Uncertain if he is the child's father, Eli's feelings towards the boy are ambivalent and for unexplained reasons he plays dangerous games with the boy. The film was nominated for Best Film at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival, where Oded Kotler won the award for Best Actor.
