Nothing Fancy: Diana Kennedy /
Nothing Fancy: Diana Kennedy
At 95, Diana Kennedy still starts each morning with a brisk walk through the grove surrounding her property, also known as Quinta Diana. An eco-house at the end of a gravel road, the place is reachable only by off-road vehicle, yet it continues to draw countless visitors who savor every word from her mouth and every dish from her kitchen. A culinary guru, author of nine cookbooks that introduced the world to the wonders of Mexican cuisine, Kennedy settled in Michoacán, Mexico, fifty years ago. She has since been to every corner of it in search of new recipes, vegetables, spices, and techniques. Even today, she still zooms around in her car, scours the markets, cooks, explores, learns and teaches—all with the same gusto.
