Itzhak

Length 82 , USA (2017) Director: Alison Chernickשפה: Hebrew and English, Hebrew & English subtitles

At 70, there is hardly a stage left where Itzhak Perlman has yet to be received with rousing applause. In what at times feels like an intimate family film, the renowned violinist is revealed as a warm, funny, passionate man who sees the world through music. Between rehearsing for his concert with Billy Joel, making soup for Alan Alda and swapping stories with a violin repairer, Perlman talks about his first violin lessons as a child in Tel Aviv, and recounts how the son of Holocaust survivors had made the long journey to international stardom, despite having contracted polio at the age of 4. At 70, Perlman is still driven by that same internal sound aptly described by President Obama: “when he plays the violin, you can hear his soul”.
