On the water
The three rivers that converge at the Croatian town of Sisak have long since recovered from the war. So has the serene landscape surrounding it. But the people—the people have not. Seen from afar, the hustle and bustle on the water appears peaceful enough to make one jealous: swimming in the freezing water on snowy days, sailing on sunny days, friends going fishing, a father and son at swim practice. Yet something dark looms in the background, a fuse that might catch fire any second. The men at the center of this film, so different from one another at first glance, all share a difficult past: battles, prisons, life on the economic fringes of society. Their stories converge, much like the rivers, to reveal a touching portrait of a town whose memories have frozen in time.
