What’s with the Dancing? A Lecture by Noam Sheizaf
Adam Curtis is one of the most celebrated - and controversial - documentarists of the current cultural and political era. Curtis' films and television series are psychedelic journeys through theories, ideas and images from the BBC's vast archive; his protagonists are the politicians, philosophers, celebrities, musicians and artists, the tech entrepreneurs and the activists who created the world we live in. Among the most mysterious images that Curtis uses are those of people dancing: in a club, in a ballroom, in a neo-Nazi pub, on the street, on the beach or in a dance class. These dances give Curtis's films an elusive feeling and a mysterious charm, but perhaps they can also provide us the key to understanding his work.
Noam Sheizaf is a journalist, and a documentary director and screenwriter.
