Hail Satan? /
Horns? Check. Flames? Check. Dramatic calls of “Hail Satan”? Check, and then some. Needless to say, all this makes the American right’s blood boil. The Satanic Temple is a young, loud, and very amusing religious organization founded to raise awareness of serious issues: racism, government corruption and the erosion of religious freedom. Its founders, all of them atheists with a well-developed sense of humor, use every provocation imaginable to protest and get the public woke and thinking. The shocked conservatives react as expected, with violence. Director Penny Lane follows the Satanic Temple in their war against the alt-right (which includes erecting a satanic statue on the lawn of a state capitol), and discovers that the people thought to be the embodiment of the American nightmare are actually peaceful, freedom-loving humanists with a penchant for flair, fire, and brimstone.
