SAMI BLOOD /
Lapland in the 1930s. Elle Marja is a young girl from the Sámi tribe. Her mother senses the social changes characteristic of the early 20th century, and decides to send her to a boarding school where she will adjust to modern life as well as gain an education and social skills. The young rural girl’s encounter with modern society and racism starts badly, but Elle Marja overcomes the many hurdles of her new reality and even enjoys her first love. A wonderful film that will captivate a broad audience. Relevant as ever to the subject of women’s rights and the fight against gender based violence.
