Enter the Dragon
The film that made Bruce Lee a legend. Lee's final film stands the test of time as the most beloved martial-arts epic in film history. To avenge the death of his sister, Lee infiltrates the island fortress of criminal warlord Han and enters his brutal tournament. The result is a breath-taking visual feast of martial-arts, staged by Lee Himself, accompanied by music by the great Lalo Schifrin.
Enter the Dragon was a huge box office success in 1973 – after the sudden death of its star, exactly 51 years ago. Kung Fu culture has proven to be a major influence on the development of hip hop, and Enter the Dragon has become a cult classic for any hip hop lover.
What is it with Hip-Hop and Bruce Lee anyway? The screening will be preceded by a short lecture by Matan Sharon, deputy editor of Time Out Tel Aviv, hip hop journalist and half of the rap podcast "Yo! The podcast", about the surprising connection between Asian martial arts and hip hop culture, and how kung fu movies inspired New York rap.
