Recently rediscovered, this newly restored 1970s US indie film, in the cinéma vérité style, follows a Nigerian man’s experiences in the counterculture-era American West Coast. In 1968's tumult, a student from Nigeria, who comes to America for the first time, attends San Francisco State College. He experiences clashing cultures and elucidates society's ineptitude at living humanely.
The screening will be preceded by a short talk by Yashiv Cohen, Soundtrack Tel Aviv’s artistic director, about Otis Redding's timeless soul classic Respect, which became Aretha Franklin’s signature song, and appears in a significant scene in the film.
Total duration approx. 100 minutes.
